Dallas and a Surprise :D

Wednesday thru Saturday of last week I went on an adventure with the Apparel, Textile, and Merchandising girls from MSU.

I took Fashion Merchandising as a fun extra to fill in a blank spot in my schedule, not knowing that it would present me with an awesome opportunity to explore Dallas!

....and explore is exactly what we did!

First, I just need to tell you to wear layers when traveling on a bus, bring a blanket, and a pillow....
I learned my lesson.

Day 1...When we first got to Dallas we went to IKEA! I have been dreaming of going to IKEA for a long time now and I was super excited to get the chance to go! I picked up the most adorable kitchen towels. >>>>
I also got an interesting little gadget thing (tension wire)to hang a tapestry that I have.

After IKEA, we checked into our hotel! La Meridien! Which was directly across from the Galleria in Dallas
It was for sure one of the most amazing malls that I have ever been to!

Day 2... Early morning, quick stop for breakfast, JC Penney World Headquarters.

I'm on the far left ;)

Day 3...was career day for the fashion girls. I enjoyed tagging along! I appreciate other designers even if they aren't doing interiors. Art is Art to me.
Awesome Elevator! I get excited....like a two year old ;)
*happy dance*

I made tons of new friends and we had an amazing time!
Career Day ended with an amazing fashion show.
All of the pieces shown were student designed and made....
some were breathtaking....

*these images are borrowed from this blog, MSU Fashion*
I have some from the trip but time is something that I don't have a lot of at the moment.
I must apologize and I will do better soon...I pinky promise
:)

Day 4...Another early morning.
Neiman Marcus!

I absolutely loved being there.
Sadly the very first Neiman Marcus burned, shortly after though they moved into the building that we had the honor of visiting. They have been there for over 100 years now. The interior is gorgeous and literally makes you feel like royalty.

While there I had the opportunity to try this on.....
but why would I try on a wedding dress??

I have a pretty good reason....
;)

;) I'm engaged!!!
I can't put into words how excited I am about this and I had no idea it was coming.

The Proposal (he had a camera set up to capture this amazing moment)
He works in North Carolina and I don't get to see him very often. I had no idea he was coming home and I definitely wasn't expecting him to get down on one knee ;)
You'll have to excuse my two year old like excitement but it's really real and I was that excited to see him...

We won't be tying the knot anytime too soon we're waiting for me to finish school.
So at least two more years... regardless we're excited and can't stop smiling.

Not to mention...I already have a million and 1 ideas running through my mind...

I decided to trust Him and that got me here...

I have some exciting news to share!

Starting in May I will begin a new job!
*happy dance*

May would have made 2 years for me at my current job.
I love it there, but unfortunately there are some issues (that have nothing to do with me) that caused me to have to start searching for a new job.
The job I have now is an office job on campus, which makes it very convenient for me to just walk from work to class everyday.

So of course I decided the best route for me would be to seek another campus job....
I prayed.
 ...and He had another idea.

Of course a campus job would be convenient, but easy isn't always right.
I told my mom the first of last week that I didn't think a campus job was meant to be.
I had been talking to several people and it wasn't working...
By no means was I giving up.
I just had this feeling.
*He was speaking and opening doors*

Last Thursday.
I met with one of my professors to make out my Fall 2012 schedule and I told her about my situation.
She told me that Sprout, a new shop here in town, was looking for part time help.
Later in the day, I said a prayer and made a phone call.
Friday.
I took my resume to the owner.
Today.
I received a phone call and a job offer.

Sprout
Baby.Home.Garden.

They have beautiful furniture for the home and for nurseries.
They want me to help people make choices for their homes.
It's scary but this is my chance to make a name for myself.
This is my chance to learn the ends and outs of owning a business.
That excites me beyond belief.

This is another one of my chapters.

The Senior...

I hope you aren't sick of pictures of my sister ;)
It's her senior year and I've done quite a few sessions with her now....
It's easy to practice using my camera with her because we're close and I'm not nervous around her.
She's beautiful and I love her....if you couldn't tell...hehe

I can't remember if I have mentioned this or not ,but she's moving in with me in August and well the least I can say is that I am very excited to be under the same roof as her again. I have a feeling it will be an adventure.

One of the chapter's in her book is coming to an end...
and I am proud...
I have no idea where her story is going...
but I do know that she will always make the
scene she's in a little more beautiful.

Summer Idea :)

I have a summer project in mind....

I want to transform my tiny back patio into an adorable little corner that makes me want to be out there any time I have the chance.

So how should I go about this??

My idea for the space is revolving around cinder blocks, a homemade self watering planter, a vertical pallet garden, a few adorable gnomes, and maybe an old wooden spool.

I love being outside and I love those pictures in magazines of dream gardens. My patio might be the smallest thing in the world but I think with a little love it can become a tiny little oasis.

Inspiration:

How to here!

A Fairy Garden!
How to here!

and this one looks like a life size fairy garden...

love all the pots and stuff...this is one time that clutter is acceptable and awesome...

I also really like this window box! I might see if I can make this happen too...
I do have a budget though so we'll see....

I really hope that I can make a change to my patio, at least a little change.... I'll take before pictures and be sure to post them if any changes occur...
Are you making any outside changes this year?

If you are...have fun!!!
